  • Archbishop Sentamu's Pilgrimage

    Thu 03 Mar 2016 Millie (Year 6)

On Tuesday 1st March, Cherry Burton School welcomed a special guest:  Archbishop Sentamu, The Archbishop of York.    He joined us for our assembly, which was very exciting.    As it was St. David’s Day, he told us about the Patron Saints:  George, David, Andrew and Patrick.  The Archbishop also tested our knowledge of the Saint’s Countries.   England is George, Wales is David, Ireland is Patrick and Scotland is Andrew.

The Archbishop asked for four volunteers from top juniors (which means year 6).  He chose Sophie, Vienna, Luke and Tom O.  They held hands and tried to move together; first inwards and then outwards.  Inwards was easier as they were moving the same way.  Outwards was harder as they all moved in different directions.   This represented the four saints having to work together.

  • Year 5 / 6 Dodgeball Tournament

    Tue 02 Feb 2016 Mrs S Webb

On Tuesday 2nd February seven Year 5 and 6 pupils went to Longcroft Upper School to take part in the Beverley Cluster Dodgeball Tournament.  The team battled bravely against each school with no rest in between the matches.  We came 4th in our group, where they had a fabulous time taking part.

Thank you to all parents/carers who helped with transport, we really appreciate it.

  • Christmas Carol Service

Sun 20 Dec 2015 Miss Jackson

We finished a busy term with a very special Carol Service at St Michael's church. The children sang a range of traditional carols and also performed a selection from their Christmas plays. Year 6 delivered the Christmas story through readings and prayers and the school choir also performed. Thank you to parents and friends for attending to share this celebration with us.

Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

  • Five Gold Rings

Thu 17 Dec 2015 Miss Jackson
Well done to KS2 for their performance of 'Five Gold Rings'. Year 5 did incredibly well to learn such a lot of lines and certainly took on their roles very well. Year 3 and 6 also contributed with their fantastic dance routines and Year 4 with their beautiful singing. Thank you KS2!

Today the children enjoyed a delicious Christmas dinner prepared by our fantastic cooks; Mrs Merrikin, Mrs Bruce and Mrs Telli. Thank you to everyone who helped make today's lunch such a success and lots of fun for the children. A special thank you to Mrs McGowan for her Christmas cheer and entertainment throughout the lunch!
  • Hull City Hall Showcase

Fri 20 Nov 2015 Miss Jackson

On Wednesday 18th November pupils from Year 6 and our school choir performed at Hull City Hall for the Showcase event. We also managed a sneaky trip to the Maritime museum in between our rehearsals.  For the show the choir sang a medley of songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals and Year 6 shared their learning of America through dance. Everyone performed brilliantly - well done! A special thank you to Miss Katie for choreographing and practising the dance with Y6 and thank you also to Mrs Dave for her hard work with the choir.
