At Cherry Burton Primary School, our Early Years provision offers a nurturing, stimulating and inclusive environment where children are supported to develop confidence, curiosity and a love of learning from the very start of their educational journey.
Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) includes Cherry Ducklings Nursery, which welcomes children from the age of three, and our Reception class. Together, these form a cohesive Early Years unit where staff work closely to ensure strong relationships, consistency in approach and a smooth progression for every child.
While Ducklings and Reception work collaboratively as part of the same Early Years team, children also take part in separate, age-appropriate sessions. This ensures that learning experiences, routines and expectations are carefully matched to children’s developmental stages, interests and needs. Through this balance of shared provision and tailored teaching, children are able to grow in confidence, independence and readiness for the next stage of their learning.
Our Early Years setting values play-based learning, strong relationships and high-quality interactions, providing children with a secure foundation on which to thrive both socially and academically.
