At Cherry Burton Primary School, we believe that personal development is just as important as academic achievement. We are committed to nurturing confident, caring, and responsible young people who are prepared to thrive in the wider world.
Our approach is guided by our Christian values and the promotion of British values, helping children develop compassion, respect, integrity, and an understanding of democracy, rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect. Through the Jigsaw PSHE programme and Project Evolve, children explore social, emotional, and mental health topics, equipping them to navigate challenges safely and confidently.
We aim to inspire children to be passionate about the world around them. Climate education and sustainability are woven throughout our curriculum, encouraging pupils to understand and care for the environment, both locally and globally.
Beyond the classroom, we provide rich opportunities for growth. Children take part in outdoor learning, eco clubs, and leadership roles such as house captains and sports captains, developing teamwork, resilience, and a sense of responsibility. Our pupils also engage with the wider community through initiatives like visiting Cedar Grange Care Home and supporting the church café, fostering empathy and a commitment to helping others.
At Cherry Burton, personal development is at the heart of everything we do—ensuring our children leave school not only academically capable but also emotionally intelligent, socially aware, environmentally conscious, and ready to make a positive impact on the world around them.
