Inclusion

At Cherry Burton Primary School, inclusion is at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our Christian values, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels safe, valued and able to succeed, regardless of their starting point or individual needs. In line with the Department for Education’s vision for inclusive education and Ofsted’s focus on how well schools support all pupils to thrive, we believe that strong relationships, high expectations and the right support enable every child to flourish.

We are proud to be a Nurture UK school, embedding nurture principles across our classrooms and wider school life. This approach reflects our Christian ethos, placing relationships, empathy and understanding at the centre of learning and wellbeing. By creating calm, predictable and supportive environments, we help children to develop confidence, resilience and positive relationships.

Our ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) programme provides targeted emotional and social support for children who may need help with managing emotions, building self-esteem, developing friendships or coping with change. This work is underpinned by our belief that every child is unique and valued, and that emotional wellbeing is fundamental to learning.

We work closely in partnership with families, recognising that trust, openness and collaboration are essential in supporting children effectively. By working together, we ensure children receive consistent care and encouragement both at home and at school.

Our Enhanced Resource Provision (ERP), The Ark, offers additional, specialist support for children who require a more personalised approach while remaining fully included in school life. Alongside this, children across the school access sensory circuits to support regulation, focus and readiness to learn, helping every child to access learning successfully.

Through our Christian values, nurturing approach and inclusive practices, Cherry Burton Primary School is a community where every child is known, supported and encouraged to achieve their very best.
